IV sedation and General Anesthesia are used for extensive dental procedures, and as needed for any type of surgical procedure. It is appropriate for people who are extremely anxious or who undergo more extensive or longer procedures. As provided by a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon such as Dr Sorel, it is a safe way to get a procedure done "without remembering anything about it"!
Dr Ashba will be happy to discuss the various sedation options with you. In case IV sedation or General Anesthesia were considered as appropriate, you will get a consultation with our in-house specialist.
IV sedation/General Anesthesia requires an empty stomach ("after midnight") and an escort to drive you to and from the office. NO LIQUIDS OR FOOD should be taken the morning of surgery, since they could prove extremely dangerous during anesthesia.
